Mrs. Glick's Resource

Classrooms

Learning resource classes provide support for small groups of students with specialized instruction in core subjects.  Reading classes work on phonics skills, word attack skills, and comprehension skills.  These skills are taught at the students' ability level.  English classes focus on nouns, verbs, subjects, and predicates.  We also work on writing complete sentences, paragraphs, and short essays.  During resource math classes we learn the basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.  During study hall, we help students with homework and test preparation.  We work on study skills, as well as organizational skills, at this time.  Science and social studies classes are also taught in the learning resource classroom.  We focus on the same topics, but provide instruction at the students' ability levels.

Three program assistants attend the regular classes to assist students and teachers.  They take notes and help students with notes and homework assignments.  In addition, they read test to students who receive this accommodation.  They also help keep track of regular classroom assignments, as well as how students are performing in the those classes.
